Jamila Lindo is a dynamic and passionate engineer who is dedicated to empowering young girls to pursue careers in STEM. As the founder of Girls Can Be Engineers, a non-profit organization that provides mentorship, resources, and hands-on experiences to girls interested in engineering, Jamila is making a significant impact on the next generation of engineers.
Jamila's passion for engineering began at a young age. Growing up in a family of engineers, she was constantly surrounded by the excitement and creativity of problem-solving. She loved taking things apart and putting them back together, and she was always curious about how things worked.
When Jamila entered college, she initially planned to study medicine. However, after taking a few engineering courses, she realized that her true passion lay in engineering. She loved the challenges of engineering, and she was excited about the opportunity to use her skills to make a difference in the world.
After graduating from college, Jamila worked as an engineer for several years. However, she soon realized that she wanted to do more than just design and build things. She wanted to inspire young people to pursue careers in STEM, and she wanted to help them to overcome the barriers that they might face.
In 2014, Jamila founded Girls Can Be Engineers. The organization's mission is to provide mentorship, resources, and hands-on experiences to girls interested in engineering. Girls Can Be Engineers offers a variety of programs, including after-school programs, summer camps, and workshops.
Through Girls Can Be Engineers, Jamila has reached thousands of girls and helped them to develop their interest in STEM. She has also helped to break down stereotypes about engineers and shown girls that they can be successful in STEM careers.
Jamila's work has been recognized by numerous organizations. She has been named one of the "100 Most Influential Women in STEM" by the STEMconnector and one of the "Top 100 Women Leaders in STEM" by the Women's Forum for the Economy & Society.
Jamila is a role model for girls and young women who are interested in pursuing careers in STEM. She shows them that anything is possible if they have the passion and the determination to succeed. She is an inspiration to all of us, and she is making a real difference in the world.
